Essex Outlaws Wheelchair Basketball Club
Paralympic Sports & Disability Awareness
The outcomes we hope to achieve:
Create links between the community and Essex Outlaws Wheelchair Basketball Club.
Showcase the abilities of disabled athletes by introducing wheelchair basketball for all to experience and try for themselves.
Increase knowledge and understanding of disability.
Team work and experiencing something different as a group.
Information provided through experienced disabled coach allowing question and answer sessions to cover any aspects of Disabled life and sport.
Be inclusive to all
The Essex Outlaws can tailor the session around what you the customer want to cover on the day.
If you have a basketball court with baskets or if working with very young people we can provide low level baskets in a smaller hall or space within your school, college, university.
If you wish to experience wheelchair basketball or want to have a Questions & Answer type session both can easily be arranged.
We can hire a facility near you for the session if you do not have the space or facilities.
We have always been very well received and the days have always ended with smiles and new knowledge learnt.
The day will be organised and delivered by our Head Coach Alan Mansell.
Alan Mansell has been involved in disability sports since the age of 9 and has been disabled from birth.
Alan has represented Great Britain in wheelchair basketball at both Under 22 and senior level.
He represented Great Britain at the World Junior Championships in 2001 and European Championships in 2002 winning a Gold Medal.
Alan was also the Great Britain Men’s Assistant coach at the World Championships in 2014 and European Championships in 2015 in which the GB team were crowned Champions of Europe.
The Outlaws charge a very reasonable price for hire of all the equipment and coaching for the sessions
